Yangzhou welcomed some 86,000 visitors over the Mid-Autumn Festival break from Sept 15 to 17, according to the city's tourism bureau.
The newly opened high speed rail link from Nanjing and Nantong played a large role in the increase in visitor numbers.
Yangzhou's coach station reported that it had processed some 26,000 visitors over the holiday, with most passengers coming from the nearby cities of Suzhou, Wuxi, Changzhou and Nanjing. The station added an extra 60 coaches to handle the peak in traffic.
The Yangzhou Taizhou Airport reported that the majority of passengers that arrived came from Guangzhou, Beijing and Dalian.
With the National Day holiday just around the corner, train tickets are currently on sale. To date, tickets for some lines have been in shortage, like the direct train from Yangzhou to Beijing from Oct 5 to 7 which has already sold out. Yangzhou train station is reminding all residents to purchase tickets as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
