A group of 91 masterpieces of contemporary jade carving from Yangzhou, worth 100 million yuan ($15 million), are on display at Wuxi Museum from July 10 to Aug 19.
The exhibition marks a new step by Yangzhou and Wuxi to boost mutual cultural connections, as it offers unprecedented opportunities for Wuxi residents to take an in-depth look into the cultural treasures of their neighboring city.
It is the first time the Yangzhou-made jade carvings have been displayed in a museum, and also the first time Wuxi Museum has put on such a themed event.
Tao Chunyi, an official at the museum, said the exhibition was not only a people-benefit move, but also a reflection of the museum's plan to shoulder the responsibility of promoting traditional Chinese culture.
Yangzhou jade carving masters will visit the museum July 21, giving lectures to local residents and explaining the traditional craft.
