The 3rd Yangzhou International Lighting Festival opened at Marco Polo Flowers Ocean Theme Park in Yangzhou on July 20.
This year's lighting art festival has introduced several brand new animated characters to the show, such as Thomas and His Friends, the Turtles, and the Avengers, bringing many visitors' childhood memories flooding back to them.
"We decided to make some innovations on the basis of last year and we hope to present a better lighting show to visitors this year," said Ma Junfeng, executive vice-president of Marco Polo Flowers Ocean Theme Park.
Ma said that two acrobatic shows by an acrobatic troupe from Dezhou in East China's Shandong province will be organized every evening and a display of music and fireworks will be held every Saturday.
Additionally, outdoor swimming pools, a creative food market and an ice and snow world are also open to children and their parents in order to give some respite from the summer heat.
Ma added that this year's lighting festival opens at 6 pm every evening and will last until Aug 31.
