Iron sculpture of a squatting buffalo
The sculpture of a squatting buffalo was cast in solid iron during the reign of Emperor Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty.
Legend said that sculptures of nine buffaloes, two tigers and one chicken were built alongside the Grand Canal so that people could offer prayers to the gods who control floods. The iron sculpture of a squatting buffalo in Shaobo town is one of them.
