Big Horse Head (big dock)
Since the Tang and Song dynasties (618-1279), the Big Horse Head (big dock) has been an important dock along the Grand Canal.
During the reign of Emperor Qianlong (1711-1799) in the Qing Dynasty, the emperor made six visits to the Jiangnan area (south of the lower reaches of Yangtze River). Each time Qianlong visited Yangzhou, his boats all berthed at Big Horse Head (big dock) and the name of the dock was inscribed on stone by the emperor personally.
