A themed post office will be built for the 10th Jiangsu Horticulture Expo to be held in Yizheng, Yangzhou, Jiangsu province from Sept 28 to Oct 28.
The post office will be located in the expo park and cover an area of 48 square meters.
The themed post office, a new kind of post office that has sprung up in recent years, displays and sells postal products representing distinctive elements of Chinese culture.
In this horticulture-themed post office, visitors will be able to get numerous postal products issued by China Post, such as commemorative postcards, commemorative coins, stamps and commemorative cachets.
"Visitors will also be able to buy passports in the post office and receive a stamped date mark of that day. Then, they will be able to recall their memory of this horticulture expo even after decades," said a local official.
Moreover, a slow delivery service will also be available in the post office, so that visitors can write postcards to send to their future selves.
"We hope that the post office can not only be a place for people to express their feelings and buy products, but also become a bridge to bring young people's hearts closer. Nowadays young people rely on smart phones and the internet to communicate with others, only a few people are still writing letters," said the official.
Through displaying envelopes, stamps and cachet in the post office, it is hoped that young people can get to know more about how the older generations communicate with friends who live far away, and how past generations did so.
