During the Mid-Autumn Festival, Yangzhou craftsmen made a series of handicrafts integrating Yangzhou traditional techniques and the festival.
Zhou Ejian, a Yangzhou jade carving master, made handicrafts in the shape of persimmons out of southern red agate as autumn is the season for this delicacy.
"Though these persimmons are very small, a lot of people adored them," said Zhou.

Another well-known symbol of Mid-Autumn Festival is mooncake. Yangzhou Jade Factory creatively made agate mooncakes symbolizing family reunion this year, turning food into handicrafts.
"Mooncakes are indispensable when speaking of Mid-Autumn Festival, yet fewer and fewer people will eat mooncake nowadays," said a staff member from Yangzhou Jade Factory.
Paper cuttings themed on Chinese legends related to Mid-Autumn Festival such as Chang'e flying to the moon and the Moon Rabbit pounding herbs also made their debut.
"One of the characteristics of paper cutting is to comply with time," said Yan Chunhui, creator of these distinctive paper cuttings.
