As China's traditional Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, Yangzhou, Jiangsu province has reserved special "lunar scenic spots" for visitors and local residents.
The Twenty-four Bridge Scenic Spots
The bridge is famous for the depiction of a Chinese poem written by Tang Dynasty (618-907) poet Du Mu - "The bright moonlight flowing on the Twenty-four Bridge, where a beauty pretty as the jade plays flute."
Geyuan Park
The park is best known for its "moonstone ", which belongs to Taihu Lake Stone and resembles the Chinese character "月" (moon). The stone with exquisite appearance and unconventional shapes has "wrinkled, thin, transparent and leaky" characteristics.
Heyuan Park
There are four "lunar scenic spots" in the park, of which "Moon in the water" is best known by tourists. The moonlight drips through the holes on the artificial hill and casts shadows on the surface of the water.
Daming Temple
Appreciating the moon from the top of a tower is a traditional custom on Mid-Autumn Festival in this ancient city. Qilingta Tower in Daming Temple is set to entertain visitors with the best view of the moon and Yangzhou's nocturnal charms.
