Two wonderful Yangzhou puppet shows, Alice in Wonderland and Magic Mirror of Snow White, were staged in the Qingdao Grand Theatre July 4, as the opening of the performance season in Qingdao, Shandong province.
It was the first time Yangzhou puppet shows had been staged in other cities this year due to the COVID-19 epidemic.
The Yangzhou puppet show troupe will leave for a tour to Wenzhou, Chongqing and Changzhou after the Qingdao show.
Magic Mirror of Snow White, an original Yangzhou puppet show, is based on the classic fairy tale Snow White. It offers a new humorous interpretation of the original story. The show allows performers, puppets and audience members to communicate, giving children even more enjoyment.

The show received a lot of attention from audiences in Qingdao, when it was staged there for the first time. Audiences filled the 30 percent of maximum capacity allowed under social distancing measures.
People will be able to enjoy two other Yangzhou puppet shows, The Nutcracker and Chang E Ascends to the Moon, at Wenzhou Grand Theatre in late July, according to the troupe.
