Gaoyou Qingshui Lake Scenic Area [Photo/VCG]
Two scenic areas in Yangzhou -- Gaoyou Qingshui Lake Scenic Area and Baoying Lotus Eco-tourism Zone -- recently received national 3A-level ratings.
Currently, among the 56 scenic areas in Yangzhou, one is national 5A-level, 14 are national 4A-level and 31 are national 3A-level.
Gaoyou Qingshui Lake Scenic Area is located in the northern suburbs of Gaoyou city, Yangzhou. It has a crisscrossed water network with various types of wetlands as well as tourist centers, forest villas, and wooden forest houses.

The Baoying Lotus Eco-tourism Zone is located in Sheyanghu town, Baoying county, Yangzhou. It was built in 2001 with a planned area of 16,000 mu and a built-up area of 3,500 mu, more than 70 percent of which is made up of water.
Traditional wetland plants such as lotus roots, water lilies, reeds, and rushes are planted throughout the garden. Sheyanghu town is known as the country's largest lotus root planting base as well as production and distribution center.
More than 180 varieties of lotuses have been introduced to a lotus park there, drawing heavy tourism. A lotus-themed tourism festival is also held every year, inviting visitors to admire lotus blossoms and enjoy a rural vacation.
Last year, over 300,000 people visited the park, which greatly helped to enrich local villagers.
