Yangzhou, a city in Jiangsu province with more than 2,000 years of history, ranks 24th among the Top 100 Chinese Cultural Cities. The city has three representative crafts inherited from several thousand years ago.
Yangzhou Lacquerware
Yangzhou lacquerware, with a history of over 2,300 years, is a classic of Chinese traditional craftworks. It won a great reputation worldwide in the Han Dynasty (206 BC to AD 220). Based on refined paint, Yangzhou lacquer is made from more than 800 precious materials such as emerald, agate, coral, white jade, ivory, rosewood, mica and gold.
