Yangzhou's Jiangdu district inaugurated its first 24-hour library at township level on Oct 10.
Covering an area of nearly 400 square meters, the library houses more than 8,000 books and 300,000 digital books.
It is also equipped with a facial recognition system and a water dispenser and sterilizer.
The library shares the same system with all the other libraries in the city, enabling readers to lend books from the library and return them elsewhere.
Since its trail operation on Sept 30, more than 7,000 residents have visited the library, 657 of whom have applied for the library card.
