Situated in the urban area of Yangzhou, Jia's Salt Merchant House is a national a relic under State protection.
The residence covers an area of 3,200 square kilometers and is composed of a courtyard and a garden.
The garden was built by Jia Songping, a salt merchant during the reign of Emperor Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), while the courtyard was purchased by the family during the reign of Emperor Daoguang.
