The Yangzhou 486 Intangible Cultural Heritage Center was included in the first batch of 10 provincial intangible cultural tourism bases, local media reported on Jan 7.
The 486 Intangible Cultural Heritage Center displays and sells Yangzhou jade ware, lacquer ware, paper-cuttings, embroidery, rice-paper flower, miniature sculptures, and other traditional handicrafts. Each year, over 100,000 people tour the center and learn about specialties in Yangzhou.
It has also been chosen as a venue for many cultural events and lectures, where cultural experts and people interested in traditional culture can interact and communicate with each other.
Jiangsu provincial intangible cultural tourism bases, as recognized by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, must be working to integrate tourism and intangible culture and have made some level of progress.
The 10 listed bases are all intangible cultural heritage venues, historical and cultural blocks, and tourism attractions that are home to provincial and national intangible cultural heritage projects and are able to host cultural events and exhibitions, according to the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism.
