Yangzhou colored lanterns are small, exquisite and bright, and they are in the three elegant styles of palace, trotting horse and flowers-and-plants lanterns.
In 1972, Yangzhou displayed lanterns featuring a peacock spreading its tail and goldfish making bubbles at a national art expo. In 1992, the Yangzhou local government co-worked with CCTV and held a Yangzhou lantern festival in Hebei province. Yangzhou delivered ten sets of large lanterns and thousands of palace lanterns, which brightened up Hebei’s Tangcheng. The art form now integrates modern sound, light and electric technologies and attracts a great many visitors through its charm.
