Though Chinese people consider the Grain Rain period, or guyu, a solar term starting from April 20 this year, as the best time to admire peonies, the flowers grown at Fuyuan Garden, Yangzhou city seemed itching to welcome spring and came into full bloom on Monday.
Xiang Jiafu from Yangzhou was lucky to capture the scenery. He shared with us some snapshots of the purple and pink-colored peonies, the queen of flowers and symbol of prosperity, happiness and good luck.
According to a document recording ancient trees and famous wood species in Jiangsu province, the peony flowers planted at Fuyuan Garden have witnessed the ups and downs of Yangzhou city for over 130 years and are now regarded as precious local treasures.
