Autumn has finally arrived in Yangzhou, East China's Jiangsu province after a scorching summer, and along with the cool weather comes seasonal delicacies that tantalize the palate.
Crab meat with meatballs (蟹粉狮子头 xie fen shi zi tou)
This dish featuring streaky pork and crab meat was invented by a famous chef when Emperor Yang of the Sui Dynasty (AD 581-618) visited Yangzhou. The pork is stewed until all fat is removed before it is mixed with the fresh crab meat.

This popular autumn dish combines tofu with crab meat to creates a mouthwatering contrast of textures and flavors.

Xiehuang tangbao, or crab-roe soup dumpling, is a must-try breakfast dish in Yangzhou. It is often served with a straw which allows you to drink the rich and hearty crab broth beneath the dough.
