The China Grand Canal Museum in Yangzhou, East China's Jiangsu province made the list of China's most innovative museums, the Chinese Museums Association announced at the opening ceremony of Chinese celebrations of International Museum Day on May 18.
Thirty-four museums in the country received the honor.
Located in Yunhe Sanwan scenic area, the 79,000-square-meter museum collects, displays and researches canal cultural relics, while also carrying out tourism and cultural exchanges.
The museum boasts a digital exhibition hall, three permanent exhibition halls, and six thematic exhibition halls, as well as more than 10,000 cultural relics.
The museum has made innovations in terms of how it displays collections and educates children.
It has received 4 million visitors since it opened to the public in 2021 and has become a popular tourism destination among visitors both from home and abroad.
