Fangxiang town in Hanjiang district, Yangzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, held its first rural tourism festival in Yanhu village on May 21.
Surrounded by Slender West Lake, Shaobo Lake and Beihu Lake, Fangxiang town is best known for its natural scenery, such as that in Yanhu village and Beihu Lake Wetland Park.
The town is also renowned for its history and culture. One of the origins of Yangzhou Opera, a national intangible cultural heritage, the town has in recent years made significant progress in the protection and utilization of its cultural heritages.

A series of cultural attractions including the Yangzhou Fishery Culture Museum and Yijia Ancient Street has been established in the town.
In addition to natural landscapes and historical sites, the town boasts a variety of delicacies such as briny goose, stewed beef and dishes made with fish.
A series of activities such as lotus flower appreciation, dramas, a family fun run and a food festival will be held over the next six months.
