Tourist trips expect to hit 100 million during this year's Dragon Boat Festival holiday, breaking through the figure of the same period in 2019, the CCTV reported on Wednesday.

During the three-day holiday, the average prices of hotel rooms and domestic air tickets are lower than that in this year's May Day holiday, said the CCTV.

Beijing, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Qingdao are typical popular destinations.

Tourism consumption is expected to reach 37 billion yuan ($5.15 billion) during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, increasing 43 percent from a year earlier, said Dai Bin, president of the China Tourism Academy.

The China Tourism Academy pointed out that the circulation and interactive flow of tourists in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Yangtze River Delta, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the middle reaches of the Yangtze River and Chengdu-Chongqing region are more obvious, and a three-hour golden tourism circle will be formed around these major cities.

The popularity of destinations such as Beidaihe, Songshan and Conghua is gradually increasing.

Short trips such as suburb areas or destinations are the go-to for travelers during the three-day holiday and self-driving, individual travelers, families, parent-child, summer heat escape, will become the keywords during the holiday, Dai Bin said.
