More than 2,000 pots of spider lilies, representing over 100 different varieties, are currently blooming at the Luocheng Garden in Slender West Lake scenic spot, Yangzhou, Jiangsu province.
This year, the garden's team, led by senior horticulturalist Chen Xiaoqin, has arranged 2,000 pots of spider lilies with a diverse range of colors and forms. "The spider lilies have just entered their blooming phase, with the peak bloom expected around the May Day holiday," Chen said.
The collection on display features both domestic and international varieties of spider lilies. "Each variety has its unique blooming period," Chen explained. At Luocheng Garden, the spider lilies bloom for over two months, ensuring a continuous display of blossoms.
Spider lilies, along with hydrangeas and roses, are often referred to as the "big three" in garden flowers. China boasts a rich variety of spider lilies, with over 100 different species, accounting for one third of the world's total varieties of spider lilies.
