Hiking is a rewarding activity that allows individuals to immerse themselves in natural beauty while promoting physical fitness and well-being.

As the crisp spring breeze sweeps through Yangzhou, it's the perfect time to explore some must-see attractions by hitting the trails.

Route 1: Song Jia City Sports and Leisure Park (3.2 km)

Hikers yearning for a trail that combines nature, relaxation, and physical fitness will find their paradise at Song Jia City Sports and Leisure Park, situated within the stunning Shugang-Slender West Lake scenic area in Yangzhou.

The hiking route consists of a winding path along Baozhang Lake, where verdant greenery and tranquil waterscapes make for an idyllic setting. Additionally, the Songcheng International Fencing Club, located on the route, boasts a complete set of German fencing equipment and auxiliary fitness apparatus, making the park a perfect fusion of natural beauty and physical recreation.

Route 2: Guangling district (5 km)

Guangling district in Yangzhou is a trove of cultural relics and celebrated figures, making it a must-visit for hikers passionate about history and culture.

Highlights of the route include Wu Daotai Mansion, one of three famous residential houses in southern China during the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911); the Former Residence of Zhu Ziqing, a traditional triple-courtyard house that bears witness to the lifelong journey of renowned Chinese prose writer Zhu Ziqing (1898-1948); and the Zhang Yuliang Memorial Hall, built in honor of Zhang Yuliang (1895-1977), a patriotic female painter hailed as a pioneer in Chinese Western painting.

Route 3: Fenghuang (Phoenix) Island ecological tourism area (10 km)

Thanks to its excellent natural environment, the Fenghuang Island ecological tourism area, located in the northern part of the Seven Rivers and Eight Islands scenic area, is a popular getaway from the hustle and bustle of Yangzhou.

Peppered along the route are charming spots such as Tangli Bay, ideal for leisurely picnics; Banluo Xiaozhu, a quaint, country bookstore; and a Grand Canal viewing platform – a great place to soak in the magnificence of ancient waterways.
